Bio

Barbara was born in 2000 in Warsaw, Poland. From 2007 to 2019, she attended the music high school ZPOSM I i II st. Nr 3 im. Grażyny Bacewicz (The Grazyna Bacewicz National Music High School No.3) in Warsaw, Poland, where she graduated from the piano class of Professor Romana Orłowska. In 2019, she successfully passed the entrance exams at The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland, where she graduated in the Choral Conducting class of Professor Sławek A. Wróblewski. On January 15, 2022, she conducted a Female Vocal Ensemble of the Department of Music Education, Choral Studies and Rhythmics for her diploma concert. That same year, on June 27, she successfully defended her bachelor's thesis on "Performance Aspects of Selected Works by Marco Maiero". She is currently in her first year of the Master of Music degree program in Choir Conducting at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland, under the guidance of Professor Sławek A. Wróblewski. Miss Bowtruczuk has always been passionate about choral music. Her interest in the choral world began with Orthodox Church music and singing in the Children's Choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene in Warsaw. In addition to church music, she is passionate about performing contemporary music and premiering choral and vocal-instrumental works. She performed at numerous concerts, including concert halls of places such as: • The Chopin University of Music (UMFC), Warsaw • Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio (Studio Koncertowe Polskiego Radia im. Witolda Lutosławskiego), Warsaw • Palace on the Isle (Pałac na Wyspie) in Warsaw's Royal Baths Park, Warsaw • The Royal Theatre and the Old Orangery (Pałac Królewski i Stara Oranżeria) in Warsaw's Royal Baths Park, Warsaw • The Royal Castle, Old Town, Warsaw • Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene, Warsaw • Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Hajnovka. Since her childhood, Barbara has enjoyed singing in choirs. Her first choral experience was in The Choir of The Grazyna Bacewicz National Music High School No.3, conducted by Dr. Agata Góreczna-Jakubczak and Dr. Wanda Tchórzewska-Kapała. During many years of her school education (both primary and secondary), she participated in numerous concerts organized both in school and outside of it, such as at The Royal Castle in Warsaw and The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In addition to the school choir, Barbara also sang in the choirs of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene in Warsaw, starting from the Children's Choir and ending with the Youth Choir and the Cathedral Choir, with which she still collaborates today, enhancing numerous church services and events and participating in many concerts and festivals, including the "Hajnowskie Dni Muzyki Cerkiewnej" International Festival in Hajnovka. From 2019 to 2021, Barbara was a member of the Mixed Choir of The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, with whom on 27 November 2019, she performed a concert version of Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" at The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. During her Bachelor's degree studies, she also sang in the Mixed Vocal Ensemble and the Female Vocal Ensemble of the Department of Music Education, Choral Studies and Rhythmics. As the conductor, she prepared her diploma concert with the Female Vocal Ensemble. The diploma concert took place on 15th January 2022 at The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. After the successful diploma concert, the ensemble was asked to perform again at a university concert dedicated to the memory of the late professor Ryszard Zimak (27.03.2022). In 2022, Barbara joined The Polish Royal Opera Chamber Choir, with which she performed in venues such as the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio and the Palace on the Isle in Warsaw's Royal Baths Park. On March 17, 2022, together with the Chamber Choir, Vocal Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Royal Opera, she premiered the concert version of “Ars Moriendi - Requiem Giocoso” by Tomasz Opałka under the direction of Dawid Runtz. During her time (studies) at The Chopin University of Music, Barbara discovered her passion for contemporary music and performed numerous contemporary choral works with the university choirs. She also had the opportunity to conduct several premieres as a chorister and a conductor. One of the most notable premieres she took part in was the concert version premiere of Tomasz Opałka's “Ars Moriendi - Requiem Giocoso” on March 17, 2022. In March 2023, together with The Artistic-Scientific Circle of Choral Conducting, she organized the 5th Inter-Faculty Concert of Contemporary Choral Music. During this concert, as a conductor, she conducted the premiere of a piece by Miłosz Rybarski titled "Sine lasy we mgłach drzemią..." („Blue forests sleep in the fog…”) to the words of the Polish poet Maria Konopnicka. The concert took place on March 16, 2023, at The Chopin University of Music, Warsaw.
