Miłosz Pękala

Miłosz Pękala comes from Rzeszów. He graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, percussion class of Professor Stanisław Skoczyński (diploma with honours). He also studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under G. Mortensen.

For many years he has participated in numerous prestigious concerts, festivals and diverse artistic projects, covering both contemporary, light and ethnic music (as a soloist or chamber musician). He usually cooperates with a quartet Kwadrofonik, percussion duo Hob-beats Percussion Duo, orchestra Sinfonia Varsovia, ensemble Mitch&Mitch, producer and composer Andrzej Smolik,  and group Ritmodelia. On his score card he has performances with (among others): European Percussion Ensamble (France), Percussion Clavier de Lyon (France), Perkurama (Denmark), orchestra of the National Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra Amadeus, and Warsaw Percussion Group. He has developed his skills under such artists as: Andrzej Kruk, Marta Klimasara, Katarzyna Myćka, Steven Schick, Jean Geoffroy, Emmanuel Sejourne, Nippy Noya, or Ricardo Flores. He specializes in playing the vibraphone, multi-perrcussion sets and Latin American instruments.

Miłosz Pękala has won awards at many competitions both as a soloist and a member of chamber ensembles. In 2008 he was a finalist of the prestigious International Percussion Duo Competition in Luxemburg. In 2009 he won the 1st Award at the International Percussion Competition in Fermo (Italy) in the category of vibraphonem and 2013, together with Magdalena Kordylasińska, he won the 3rd Award and Special Award at the Universal Marimba Competition in Belgium, in the category of marimba duos. The album entitled Folklove (Polskie Radio) featuring Miłosz Pękala was called the fest folk music CD of 2008.

Miłosz Pękala currently works as a Assistant Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw,  and he incessantly performs concerts in a percussion duo called  Hob-beats Percussion Duo, quartet Kwadrofonik, and participates in many national and international artistic projects.
