Ewa Skardowska

Ewa Skardowska holds a post-doctoral degree awarded to her by the FCUM, she is a pianist, she completed graduate and post-graduate studies in piano playing under Bronisława Kawalla and Jan Ekier. She also studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, USA, in the class of Ellen Mack.
Since graduation, she has had a keen interest in piano chamber music; she has performed with numerous instrumentalists from Poland and abroad. In 2004, she founded the Varsovia Piano Trio together with Adam Zarzycki (violin) and Piotr Hausenplas (cello) with which she has performed in Poland and in many other countries, e.g. Turkey, Czech Republic, Egypt, Great Britain, Romania, Moldova, Finland, Bulgaria, China, Ireland, or Georgia. The trio has recorded two albums with Polish music – for DUX/2006 and for Orfeus Music/2013.
She sat on the jury of the 5th International Piano Competition (2013). She is also interested in promoting solo and chamber works by Polish composers connected with the FCUM and, due to her ties with the Kurylewicz Artistic Cellar, pieces by Andrzej Kurylewicz.
Ewa Skardowska is connected with the FCUM Department of Instrumental Studies. She is also an author of popular-science articles on music (“Twoja Muza” magazine), a dozen of academic articles, dissertation “On the role of a pianist in the teaching of instrumentalists”, and the book entitled “Relationships in a piano trio” published by the FCUM in 2013. She is part of the editorial team of a multi-author publication currently prepared at the FCUM.
