Marek Napiórkowski is a leading Polish jazz guitarist and a composer. For many years, he has proven himself as an all-around artist with an unique musical language of his own, which is difficult to put labels on: with each musical journey, he takes us into even more intriguing worlds, bound together with his signature sound. Ever since the beginning of his career, his name has been featured in the top musician rankings. Since 2012, the readers of “Jazz Forum” magazine have consistently selected him as the Jazz Guitarist Of The Year. Napiórkowski has been acclaimed by both the industry and music critics a sixteen-time nominee of the prestigious Music Award FRYDERYK in Jazz Musician of The Year and Jazz Album of The Year categories and received the award in 2019. He also received Onet Kultura O!śnienia award for his album “STRING THEORY” recorded together with AUKSO ORCHESTRA. He is also the author of several Polish movie soundtracks, e.g. “Love and Empty Words” and “Bejbis” - nominated for Polish Film “Orły” Award in 2023 and received the Audience Award at the Krakow Film Music Festival competition in the Polish Soundtrack of the Year category. Napiórkowski has also been nominated in the Personality of the Year category in Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej 2023 award.
His name has been credited on more than 150 albums with various artists, some of which as a leader. On his solo albums played, amongst others, Gregoire Maret, Chris Potter, Mino Cinelu, Anna Maria Jopek, Clarence Penn, Leszek Możdżer, Adam Pierończyk and Henryk Miśkiewicz. He has also cooperated with many great names of jazz music such as Pat Metheny, Richard Bona, Marcus Miller, Angelique Kidjo, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, John Taylor, Dhafer Youssef, Adam Holzman, Sugar Blue, Anna Maria Jopek, Tomasz Stańko, Leszek Możdżer, Hadrien Feraud, Urszula Dudziak, Klaus Doldinger. Napiórkowski toured Japan, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, China, Russia and most countries of Europe.
In 2017- 2019 he hosted a radio show „Dźwięki nieoczywiste” in Chilli Zet, and now he hosts an authorial radio show in Radio Nowy Świat since 2020.
He is also a professor and teacher at Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
