CD Chopin University Press | Andrzej Karałow: There are some nebulae no eye can dispel

Andrzej Karałow

there are some nebulae no eye can dispel

Inspired by the phenomenon of landscapes, I try to discover my own musical language through penetrating and fathoming visual, multi-layered sceneries. By connecting music with synesthesia, I want to reach a unique con-nection of sound, its colour, and time. […] The factors in the development of my musical language are not only improvisation, composition, and pianism, but also painting – abstract and landscape – and landscape photogra-phy – especially in relation to the category of travel. All these elements affect my exploration of lights and sha-dows, colours and their structures in music – also in the context of time, space, and the search I undertake to combine these elements within my own synesthetic system.

Five works from this album are shaping my own personal space, interconnecting inspirations taken from nature, abstract paintings, dreams, and from the broadly understood concept of light – from its visual aspects, colours, and variability depending on the environment, to its occurrence in painting or outer space.
