Akiko Ebi

Japanese pianist Akiko Ebi received her musical education at the National University of Fine Arts in Tokyo, then trained at the Paris Conservatory. She won the Grand Prix of the Marguerite Long and Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris (1975). Five years later, she took fifth place in the Chopin Competition in Warsaw.

Her Chopin discography includes the etudes, preludes, nocturnes, impromptus and the Concerto in E minor. She has made recordings of works by Grieg, Franck, Ravel, Fauré, Webern. From the French Government, the artist received the order Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, and she is also a winner of Japan's prestigious ExxonMobile music award. She has been invited to the jury of the most important piano competitions, including those in Hamamatsu and Warsaw (Chopin Competition). She currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the Chopin Society of Japan and is Chairman of the Committee of the Yokohama International Piano Competition.
