Second edition of Warsaw Wind Ensemble Conducting Competition begins!

The Warsaw Wind Music Association invites to participation in the second edition of the international competition for wind band conductors

The competition is open and addressed to conductors of all nationalities. Applications should be submitted by 17 October 2021.

From among all submitted conductors, the jury will select 20 best participants who will take part in stationary auditions that will be held in Warsaw on 3rd to 5th December 2021. During the three days of competition struggle in the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and in the Ursynow District Cultural Centre, the participants will conduct the Concert Orchestra of the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army Forces and musicians from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The winners will receive cash prizes.

Participants will be judged by an international Jury:

  • Prof. Janusz Przybylski DMus. Hab. – conductor, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Chairman of the Jury;
  • Prof. Szymon Kawalla DMus. Hab. – conductor and composer, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Vice-Chairman of the Jury;
  • Chris David Westover D.M.A. – conductor, laureate of the first edition of the Competition, Denison University (Ohio, USA);
  • Manataka Shibaoka – conductor, winner of the second prize in the first edition of the Competition (Japan);
  • Lt. Col. Marcin Ślązak – conductor, head of the Concert Band of the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army Forces;
  • Lt. Col. Adam Czajkowski – conductor and arranger, Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army Forces;
  • Maj. Paweł Joks DMus. – conductor, Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań;
  • Maj. Dominik Sierzputowski DMus. – conductor, Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz;
  • Jarosław Ignaszak – conductor, Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow;
  • Jarosław Praszczałek DMus. – conductor, composer, secretary of the Jury and coordinator of the Competition, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

The event is organized by the Warsaw Wind Music Association.

Partners are: RepresentativeArtistic Ensemble of the Polish Army Forces, Ursynów District Cultural Centre Alternatywy, Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and PWM Edition. The event is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sports of the Republic of Poland as part of the programme Music.
