Karolina Nadolska

Karolina Nadolska is one of the leading representatives of Polish pianists of her generation. She developed her artistic personality under the direction of Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń and then during her studies at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the piano class of Prof. Piotr Paleczny and in the chamber music class of Prof. Krystyna Makowska-Ławrynowicz. In 2009, the Chopin University of Music recognized Karolina Nadolska’s piano achievements by awarding her a diploma with honours. Her piano studies were crowned with a special concert in which she performed as a soloist of the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Thanks to her achievements, the university authorities employed her as a lecturer; she launched her pedagogical career as an assistant in the master class of Prof. Piotr Paleczny.

Karolina Nadolska’s artistic personality has been appreciated by audiences in many countries on six continents, including the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, China, Australia, Tunisia, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Sweden, Italy, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, and many Polish cities.

In 2015, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute released a CD featuring her interpretations of the composer’s music. The album met with an enthusiastic reception from both the audience and music critics. Consequently, the artist has received numerous concert proposals.

The pianist, endowed with exceptional musical sensitivity and interpretative creativity, decided to dedicate her artistic activities to the aesthetics and music of Fryderyk Chopin, which naturally influenced her research development. In 2017, on the basis of the dissertation Sonata h-moll op. 58 i Mazurki op. 50 Fryderyka Chopina. Subiektywne kryteria estetyczne u podstaw wizji interpretacyjnych utworu [Sonata in B minor, Op. 58 and Mazurkas, Op. 50 by Fryderyk Chopin. Subjective Aesthetic Criteria Underlying the Interpretative Visions of the Work], by the decision of the Council of the Department of Piano, Harpsichord, and Organ of the Chopin University of Music, Karolina Nadolska received the title of Doctor of Musical Arts.

The artist enjoys growing recognition as a teacher of master classes organized both in Poland and abroad. On a number of occasions, she has been a jury member in national and international piano competitions.

The list of prizes the pianist has won by participating in international and national competitions is truly impressive, e.g. the 1st prize in the International Chopin Competition in Budapest (2014), 1st prize in the International Piano Competition in Karlovac (2014), 1st prize in the International Chopin Competition in Granada (2013), special award for the best performance of Polish dances in the International Chopin Compe- tition in Budapest (2012), special award for the best performance of mazurkas in the ‘Asia – Pacific’ International Chopin Competition in Daegu, 2nd prize and a special award for the best performance of Fryderyk Chopin’s works in the All-Polish Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition In Warsaw (2011), 1st prize in the Piano Competition organized by the London Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe (2008), 2nd prize in the International Chopin Competition in Mariánské Lázně, Grand Prix of the 3rd All-Polish Festival ‘Chopin’s Youth Interpretations’ in Konin; moreover, she is a prizewinner of international piano competitions in Narva and Aachen as well as of the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz.

In August 2023, Karolina Nadolska released another solo album of her interpretations of Chopin's Mazurkas and Polonaises on the DUX label.

Karolina Nadolska continues her solo and chamber music concert activities while working as an assistant professor at the Chair of Piano of the Chopin University of Music.
