An actor, director and teacher; graduate of the State Higher School of Theatre in Cracow.
As an actor he debuted in Cracow’s Old Theatre in T.S. Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral directed by Jerzy Jarocki. However, his greatest acting creations could be witnessed in theatres in Gdańsk and Gdynia. The audience can remember him from such roles as Yepikhodov in The Cherry Orchard, Eutychian in Irydion, Jacob Lomakhin in Tales from Hollywood, Henryk Choławicki in Possessed, Count in Pan Tadeusz, Max Brod in The Trap, Parolles in All‘s Well That Ends Well, Mr Smith in The Bald Prima Donna, Bojarski in Twilight, Sade in Marat – Sade, He in The Two, Mazurkiewicz in The Soldier of the Queen of Madagascar or Vielbrand in Unkenrufe.
He is equally successful as a director. He directed the controversial performance of The Marriage of Figaro at the Baltic Opera (Award of the Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodship), The Gypsy Princess by Kalman, Ernani by Verdi, Mozart and Salieri by Rimsky-Korsakov, and also semi-stage versions of Luisa Miller by Verdi and Norma by Bellini. He worked as a director in theatres in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Poznań, Bielsko-Biała, Olsztyn, Kielce, and Kalisz. In 2002 he won an award of the Association of Polish Stage Actors for Ionesco’s The Lesson staged in Bielsko-Biała. At the Drama Theatre in Białystok he directed Phantom Pains by Sigarev and Moose Hunting by Walczak. His recent premieres in Bielsko-Biała were: Sandbox by M. Walczak with Anna Guzik in one of the main roles, and God of Carnage by Y. Reza. Warsaw’s audience can watch his Accompanist by A.Burzyńska with Hanna Śleszyńska and Jan Jankowski in ‘Syrena’ Theatre and A Mad Woman by N. Ptushkina with Edyta Olszówka and Leszek Żurek, Same Time, Next Year by B.Slade with Olga Bończyk and Piotr Gąsowski in ‘Kamienica’ Theatre, The Goose by N. Kolada with Katarzyna Figura in ‘Capitol’ Theatre, Romantics by H. Levin in the Drama Theatre, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by T. Williams with Janusz Gajos, Małgorzata Kożuchowska, Edyta Olszówka, Ewa Wiśniewska, Beata Ścibakówna and Grzegorz Małecki in the National Theatre, The Misanthrope by Molier with Wojtek Solarz and Piotr Siwkiewicz in the Drama Theatre of the city of Warsaw, The Bald Prima Donna by E. Ionesco, workshop performance of 4th year students of the Acting Department of the Theatre Academy in Warsaw – Collegium Nobilium Theatre, and Toutou by Agnès i Daniel Besse with Hanna Śleszyńska, Piotr Polk and Tomasz Sapryk in ‘Kamienica’ Theatre.
He is Full Professor and lecturer of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy.
