It is with great regret and pain that we inform you that on October 20, 2024, at the age of 72, Janusz Olejniczak passed away from us forever.
An outstanding pianist and pedagogue, one of the most outstanding contemporary Chopinists. This is a huge loss not only to our university, but to world piano music. On behalf of myself and the entire community of the Chopin University of Music, I extend my sincerest condolences to the family.

On October 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. a Funeral Mass was held at the Church of the Siostry Wizytki for the intention of late Janusz Olejniczak. 
The Mass was followed by the escort to the family grave at the Old Powazki Cemetery. Family, friends, representatives of the head of state and government spoke at the funeral Mass at the Church of the Siostry Wizytki at Krakowskie Przedmieście, whose setting was provided by the Orchestra and Choir of the UMFC under the direction of Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz. The rector gave special thanks to the Chancellor, the administration, the Concert Office, Alexander Zwierz, the UMFC Orchestra and Choir under the direction of Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz, and other students and educators involved in organizing the ceremony. “We showed that we form a community. It's wonderful. I'm very proud of that.”
