Hailed as “a startlingly subtle and visionary pianist” with “a rare blend of charm and mastery,” Croatian pianist Aljoša Jurinić has established himself as a laureate of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions. Following his win at the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau (2012), he received prizes at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (2016) and the Leeds International Piano Competition (2018), and was also a finalist of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2015).
He has appeared as a soloist and with orchestras in around 40 countries, performing in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Wiener Musikverein, and BOZAR. His achievements also include a recital tour in China and sold-out performances of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Croatia.
He has recorded six albums, including three solo releases. In 2019, he was awarded the Order of the Morning Star by the President of Croatia for his contributions to culture.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree (University of Toronto) and a Konzertexamen diploma from Weimar. He is based in Boston, where he serves as a Visiting Artist at MIT, conducting research on the biomechanics of piano playing. He also gives masterclasses, teaches, and serves as a competition juror, with his students achieving success internationally.
