Gordon Fantini began studying bassoon at the age of fourteen, after five years of piano. In 2004 he entered the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, studying with Prof. Leonardo Dosso and graduating with honours. He later refined his training with renowned bassoonists including Sergio Azzolini, Carlo Colombo, Gilbert Audin, Gabriele Screpis and Albrecht Holder.
He is laureate of several international competitions, among them the World Music Competition (Vienna, 1st Prize) and the Sándor Végh Competition in Budapest, chaired by Iván Fischer. Fantini has performed as solo bassoonist with major orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London), Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, the Haydn Orchestra, and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. He has also appeared as guest with the Berner Symphonieorchester, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Kammerorchester Basel and others. He has been invited to festivals including the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Sion Festival (at the invitation of Pavel Vernikov), Amiata Piano Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and Morellino Classica. As a soloist he has appeared with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Sinfonietta de Lausanne, Belgian National Orchestra and in Colombo (Sri Lanka). In 2020 he won the position of Solo Bassoon, Section Leader at the Belgian National Orchestra in Brussels, and since the same year he has been an artist of Brussels Muzieque. He is currently principal study teacher of bassoon at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp (since 2022), the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (from December 2024), and will join the faculty of the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in September 2026. He has also a big activity with the historical practice (baroque and classical) with ensemble such as Il Gardellino, Cocnerto Köln, Freiburger Barock Orchester, I Vespri d'Arnadí....”c z zespołami takimi jak Concerto Köln i Freiburger Barockorchester.
