Chopin University Modern Ensemble

University-based contemporary music ensemble founded in 2008 by His Magnificence Rector, Prof. Klaudiusz Baran, thanks to the efforts of Vice-Rector for Student and Teaching Affairs, Prof. Aleksander Kościów, Asst. Prof. Ignacy Zalewski and Asst Prof. Leszek Lorent.

Despite only two year of its functioning so far, the ensemble has had 17 premiere performances of works by composers of the young generation. It gives regular concerts at the UMFC, and in the season of 2019/2020 it had its debut at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.

Its repertoire includes compositions by Arvo Pärt, Louis Andriessen, Paweł Łukaszewski, Marcin Błażewicz, Krzysztof Baculewski, Aleksander Kościów, Michael Schelle, Andrzej Karałow, Mateusz Śmigasiewicz, and others. In 2020 Chopin University Press reseased the ensemble’s debut album Chopin University Modern Ensemble. Debiut.
