Academic Circle: Academic Film and Recording Initiative
The Academic Film and Recording Initiative (AFRI) has operated as part of the Department of Sound Engineering, Chopin University of Music, since 2011. The fundamental of its activity is the activity of students (and graduates) majoring in Sound Engineering who want to improve their competencies and skills and open to new options for development. We pursue our interests by organising seminars, discussions, presentations of recordings and films, and recording sessions.
The circle supports the entire academic community with its work. The AFRI’s participation in the organisation of such artistic events as the Artistic “Juwenalia”, or the Artistic Night of Museums has become a tradition. We are involved in them starting from the concept plans up to their live implementation and post-production of music recordings. The circle also actively participates in academic conferences – both nation-wide (all-Poland Student Conference for Sound Technicians) and international (Audio Engineering Society conventions), as part of which students have an opportunity to expand their knowledge related to technological, research and aesthetical aspects of sound engineering and related disciplines of art and science, as well as to confront that knowledge with international standards; they win top awards at competitions within this field and meet students from foreign universities.
